biography
Van (aka V) is a Composting Systems Engineer at Green Mountain Technologies specializing in developing in-vessel composting technologies for smaller communities and organizations.
Van loves to share his 20+ years of composting expertise to help organizations successfully compost. Van provides systems design/engineering, technical support, sales, installation, training and customer service for our in-vessel systems. Van has an MS in Systems Engineering/Human Factors Engineering and a BS Human Factors Engineering from Wright State University. At home, V manages multiple community-based composting systems and enjoys making compost and building community and soil fertility. He has also authored many papers and articles on composting best practices for publications like BioCycle Magazine and the Institute for Local Self Reliance.
V is a major composting toilet enthusiast. He has managed composting toilets for festivals under the name Holy Sh*t!. V also creates artwork related to compost and has a community art project called the Compost Mandala that involves painting with compost. V also dance, improv sound making, painting, performance, and arts of all flavors.
V's favorite compost recipe is 1 part food scraps followed by 1 part humanure/sawdust followed by 1 part everything from the garden/landscape!
