Client’s Requirements

The client approached Green Mountain Technologies (GMT) seeking a cost-effective, compact solution that could be customized to fit their site-specific spatial constraints. The solution needed to be scalable (future capacity of over 200,000 TPY), have good odor control, constructed on a lean budget, provide the flexibility to process food waste and biosolids and integrate into a complex facility. GMT was contracted in 2021 to begin designing the composting operation and transfer station.

Our Solution

GMT partnered closely with Timber Creek Recycling from the outset to design an aerated static pile composting system tailored to provide flexibility in feedstock and capacity. We provided comprehensive facility and site layout design, including the design and permitting of their composting operation and transfer station

For their initial buildout, GMT supplied and helped commission:
  • Two four-zone aerated pads, each with a centralized high-pressure industrial blower.
  • Wireless temperature probes integrated with our WebMACS SCADA control system, allowing remote monitoring and precise aeration control.
  • A layout and control strategy that supports future conversion to Turned Aerated Pile composting, ensuring the system can scale with the client’s needs.

Beyond equipment and design, GMT continues to provide hands-on operational guidance, ensuring Timber Creek can optimize composting performance across its diverse feedstocks. The result is a scalable, high-performance composting facility that is already preparing for significant growth in capacity and impact.
