Testimonials
Green Mountain Technologies has been a leading provider of composting technology, facility design and consulting services for commercial, municipal, institutional and on-farm composting clients since 1992. Our company’s success has been largely based on the steady flow of referrals and testimonials we’ve gotten from happy clients over the years. Below is a sample of recent client testimonials we have received.
Commercial & Industrial Facility & Consulting Client Testimonials:
“Tyler and I started Dirt Hugger in 2010 and have bootstrapped the company into a 90,000 ton per year organics recycling business today with 23 employees. Dirt Hugger has been working with Green Mountain Technologies since 2013 and they have been an integral part of our success. In 2014 Dirt Hugger was forced to relocate and had to start from scratch on a new site. We hired GMT to guide us through the permitting, design and construction of the project. They helped us with the site master plan and traffic routing to make sure our overall operations would be as efficient as possible. We knew we wanted to use below grade aeration on a concrete pad and we had to get it done right. GMT had the experience with air pad design and their expertise was essential in getting the pad aeration and drainage to work properly. The pad worked great so last year we hired them back to design an expansion pad to more than double our production capacity. As a startup, we had little cash flow to pay consultants, GMT openly shared their expertise and kept the costs to a minimum to help us get going. It was more of a mentor relationship which provided us the confidence to take some really big risks. In short, they gave us the creative solutions that fit our site and our budget and allowed us to succeed as a company. We highly recommend GMT covering the range of technical, interpersonal and financial aspects of a working relationship.”
- Tyler Miller & Pierce Lewis, Co-founders of Dirt Hugger, Dallesport WA
“I first met Jeff Gage around 1992, when my agency assigned me to find out why a major composting operation in our jurisdiction was creating odors that could be smelled 11 miles away. At that time Jeff was the manager of the LRI facility in Gig Harbor, WA. Jeff took me under his wing and taught me the basics of composting, and how to do it odor free. As the last two decades have gone by, Jeff became the go-to guy in the State of Washington, whenever I needed to learn something about composting not yet covered in the literature. My agency has never had to write a nuisance ticket on ANY of the facilities he was involved with. Lenz Composting, the composting factory at LRI Puyallup, and LRI Gig Harbor facility all have clean records with us. If you have two dozen suddenly deceased cattle to compost, (all in one pile), there is no one else I would trust to do the job. A couple of winters ago Jeff did just that at Lenz Composting, ODOR FREE! I’ve seen it, I’ve smelt it, and my agency has pictures to prove it.”
- Claude Williams, PE; Puget Sounds Clean Air Agency, Seattle WA, pscleanair.gov
“Green Mountain has been a magnificent partner for us, responsive to our needs, building in cost effective future improvement and diversification opportunities right out of the gate, providing industry knowledge to ensure systems operate at optimal capacity and the biggest issue is standing behind the product sold with a high level of responsive technical support. Not to mention Green Mountain is a service provider that does truly care about its clients. One must go through a devastating situation (such as a wildfire...) to fully recognize the support and compassion that is offered. The company is built around great people.”
- John McCabe at Revolution Organics
“During GMT’s facility design process, they went beyond just helping us complete our successful permit applications. They also helped us build relationships with our regulating agencies. These relationships have been a key part of getting our facility permitted and running smoothly since start-up. This resulted in compressing the project from an estimated three to five years for just the permitting alone to completing the entire design, permitting and construction to two years and one week.”
- Evan Brady, Co-owner of Brady Trucking ASP Composting Facility, Shelton, WA
“Five stars! Black Earth Compost has worked with Green Mountain Technologies for our 2 indoor compost facilities. GMT's engineering team has long experience operating actual facilities. I wouldn't trust an engineer in this field who wasn't an operator. GMT continues to support us when we have questions or new ideas.”
- Andrew Brousseau, Co-founder of Black Earth Compost
“Our compost quality is much better and we are producing it quicker.”
- Daryl Goodwin, Envirosmart Composting Facility, Delta, BC Canada
“Phoenix has authored one of the most remarkable sustainability turnaround stories in the country, and our new composting facility starts an important new chapter. This award is a testament to our partners and their commitment to make Phoenix one of the most sustainable and resilient cities in the world.”
- Greg Stanton, Mayor, City of Phoenix
“Green Mountain Technologies offers simple, cost effective solutions that are practical to implement. They’re really there to work with you and make a solution that fits with your site and your process and your feedstocks. They bring a ton of experience to the table, and that balance of cost versus technology…really finding the sweet spot that worked for us and our site.”
- Pierce Lewis, Co-Founder of Dirt Hugger TAP Composting Facility, Dallesport WA
“Allwood Recyclers has been talking with Green Mountain Technologies for several years prior to teaming up with them to install our new ASP system at our composting facility. They have helped guide us in the best way to move forward with our project… I have worked with a lot of engineering firms over the years that will not really help you until they have a contract to proceed. Green Mountain Technologies has proven their expertise and professionalism, and they are always just a phone call away and offer their assistance promptly. Allwood Recyclers, Inc. was an existing facility for over 20 years prior to working with GMT to design our ASP system… I was very impressed with how they worked with our challenges and made adjustments to their design to make everything work for our facility… I have enjoyed working with the GMT team and would recommend them to anyone looking for a composting system design."
- Mark Wubben, VP of Allwood Recyclers, Inc. Fairview OR
In-Vessel Composting System Client Testimonials:
“For over three years we as the owners and the trainers as the operators had intensely studied all the composting systems that might possibly meet our needs and finally selected the Earth Flow as the most suitable. Regarding the quality of the end product, we are very pleased as it exceeds our expectations. For re-use in the stalls we require the end product be of a certain consistency and moisture content and be free of pathogens, while hopefully retaining healthy minerals since the horses necessarily ingest some of it from their stall floors. Our latest laboratory test results on the product show those requirements are being met and our barn farrier and vet are pleased with the resulting impact on our horses' health and hooves. To sum up, our experience has been so far so good. Michael Bryan-Brown their founder and CEO has been fully responsive to us and is a pleasure to work with from putting together a purchase order to handing Crescent wrenches back and forth as we tuned up the installation together.”
- Bill Weaver Owner of Archway Land, LLC
“I haven’t taken a moment to thank you and your team for all of the diligent work you all put in for helping us get our vessel back on track. I truly appreciate your groups ability to problem solve, stay calm, assist us in staying calm, and providing solutions. In a fast paced world that is very impersonal at times, you all are reminders that (some) people still care!”
- Colton Burris, Enso Solutions, Oklahoma
“The program is built for the ease of the operator. Technical support is very good…the working relationship with Green Mountain is excellent. It’s probably the best we’ve had from most of the contractors since we started building our new plant here.”
- Mike Kitchell, Superintendent, Westport Wastewater Treatment Plant, Westport WA
"Food waste is a resource we can't simply dump into the landfill. We need to replenish the soil with organic content. The Earth Flow maintenance is minimal and easy, the whole system is reliable and very durable."
- Alfred Tse, FoodCycle Plus Co. Ltd. Sheung Shui, N.T. Singapore
“With our previous turned windrow systems we had a hard time keeping up. That stress has been alleviated with our site built Earth Flow. The long-term investment in the system has a return on both labor and operating costs. I am no longer spending 16 hours a week in a skid steer and have the opportunity to spend more time in the field and greenhouse. We are also producing more compost than our old turned- windrow process, which helped us quickly transition into a no till farm.”
- Nate Bundy, Compost Manager at Greenacres Farm
“Composting provides an environmentally friendly way to process the organic matter produced by the (cannabis) industry. Oklahoma outlines the approved means of destruction for the cannabis plant, with options like incineration or burning. Composting was a no brainer. Without the Earth Flow in-vessel composting system our business would look much different because the in-vessel allows us to operate indoors. Our facility is located only 4 miles from downtown Oklahoma City. This would not be possible using a Windrow or Static for permitting, cost, and environmental reasons. The Earth Flow allows us to monitor and control potential hazards such as gases and leachate/water runoff. The Earth Flow method gives the operator control over almost everything. This lets you create and maintain the best conditions for composting, producing a premium compost/product in a fraction of the time. ”
- Colton Burris, Enso Solutions, Oklahoma
“We are introducing a project that has been years in the making – one of the first-ever permitted food waste composting systems in Hawai'i. The Earth Flow In-Vessel composting system is one of the first of its kind in Hawai‘i and will alleviate problems of odors, emissions, and leachate commonly associated with composting. The compost machine, housed at FULL CIRCLE FARM in Waimānalo, can process up to 1,000 pounds of food scraps and green waste per day.”
- Rafael Bergstrom, Executive Director, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii
“Islandwood wanted to process food waste from the dining facility and use the compost in their organic garden. To accommodate the facility’s waste volume Islandwood selected the Earth Flow from Green Mountain Technologies.” “Since mixing, aeration and moisture addition is automated, the system requires little beyond loading and unloading. The Earth Flow provides excellent control over moisture, odors, vectors and leachate. Island Wood has created compost using the Earth Flow since 2001.”
- Islandwood, an Environmental Education NGO
“I have absolutely loved working with the team from Green Mountain Technologies. Their type of work ethic and attention to detail is a lost art in our society.”
- Steve Talbott, owner Blu Sky Farms

I have requested advise from GREEN MOUNTANIN TECHNOLOGIES thru their website about size of the blower required for an small pilot Static Aerated compost Pile under tropical conditions in Colombia, South America. Their response was almost inmediate and with the appropiate answer regarding the equipment I should look locally. I am very grateful for their generosity and if things advance enough Will be calling on them to help in a larger compost Project. Thanks again Mr. Orion Black-Brown, Director of Operations.
