Marketing & Business Development

biography

Gaelan leads marketing and business development for GMT and has a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Economics from Washington and Lee University. He has more than 20 years experience in senior leadership and consulting roles with companies such as Infopia, Green Mountain Coffee/Keurig, groSolar, 1% for the Planet, Seventh Generation and Agrilab Technologies.

His work in composting began in 2008 when he founded the non profit Compost Power Network in Vermont in partnership with Highfields Center for Composting and several universities to develop best practices for heat-recovery from composting systems, including several successful compost-heated greenhouse projects. He worked on projects in collaboration with compost innovators such as Bruce Fulford of the New Alchemy Institute and Karl Hammer of Vermont Compost.  He taught composting workshops for Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont for several years, and wrote The Compost Powered Water Heater book for WW Norton publishing company in 2013. He has also authored several articles about composting technology and other renewable energy topics in BioCycle Magazine, Green Energy Times and other publications.  In his free time he enjoys all forms of outdoor recreation and quality time with his family.

His favorite compost recipe is maple bark mulch combined with bedded-pack dairy manure and pine-shavings.
