Client’s Requirements
In a collaborative effort, Zero Waste Glenorchy (ZWGY), a community-focused waste minimization organization, joined forces with Queenstown Lake District Council, Hewland Projects, and The Headwaters Ltd. Their collective vision was to initiate a community composting system as a 12-month pilot project. This endeavor originated from a pivotal 2017 community meeting convened by the Glenorchy Community Association, highlighting the pressing need for sustainable waste management solutions within the Glenorchy community.
Our Solution
Zero Waste Glenorchy (ZWGY) was in search of an efficient, fully enclosed composting system able to withstand the extreme cold while successfully diverting and processing pre & post-consumer food and organic waste from the community. Their choice, the Earth Flow 20' Intermodal system, excelled in retaining heat in sub-freezing conditions, offered superior odor control, and deterred pests effectively. This selection aligned perfectly with ZWGY's commitment to sustainable waste management and the unique demands of their locale.
