Client’s Requirements
A global investment advisory and brokerage services firm (requesting to remain anonymous) decided to invest in Earth Flow composting systems at several of their US corporate campuses. Driven by a commitment to offering sustainable solutions for their employees, part of the goal of the composting program was to enhance its workplace environment. The vision was to attract and retain top talent by, among other things, creating a green, eco-conscious atmosphere. Their outdoor landscapes, renowned for their beauty, became central to this vision. The plan hinged on a visionary landscape architect who proposed converting cafeteria food waste into compost, a natural fertilizer for use on their campuses.
Our Solution
This financial firm’s commitment to sustainability is supported through a strategic partnership with its landscape contractor. Earth Flow automated composting systems are currently operating on five different campuses in North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. This collaboration brought the vision of a closed-loop on-site composting program into reality. Food scraps generated on site in the office cafeterias and landscape waste generated on each campus are diverted from the landfill and blended together to create beautiful nutrient rich compost on site that is used to enhance and amend local soils and greenhouse operations. The program not only reduces waste and avoids expensive hauling costs, but also exemplifies an innovative model of corporate campuses working with their existing landscape contractors to build successful composting programs.
