On July first, Buddy Boyd and his partner Barb Hetherington will set off with their dog Piper on their Bolt Across Canada trip. The aim is to drive across Canada and back in their electric Chevrolet Bolt to showcase the capabilities of electric vehicles and spread the Zero Waste message.

Green Mountain Technologies has worked with Buddy and Barb since 2013 when they installed an Earth Flow system at their Gibsons Recycling Depot facility in the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, Canada. The facility diverts refuse from landfills and incinerators, recycles all sorts of objects, and composts organic waste. Buddy and Barb are also founding members of Zero Waste Canada, a grassroots non-profit that promotes the Zero Waste message of designing and managing products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources, and not burn or bury them. Green Mountain Technologies is sponsoring Bolt Across Canada because we support Buddy and Bard’s Zero Waste initiatives.

Buddy and Barb started Gibsons Disposal in 2001 and have been hard at work fulfilling their zero landfill goal and creating sustainable employment opportunities in the Sunshine Coast. You can follow Buddy and Barb’s journey this summer on their website https://www.boltacrosscanada.com/, and their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BoltAcrossCanada/.
